Friends of Megan House Animal Center Fund

MISSION:
Megan House Animal Center, established in 2003, promotes responsible animal ownership in Oaxaca, Mexico.
To date, more than 500 abandoned animals in urgent need have been sheltered, vaccinated, sterilized, and adopted into responsible homes through the efforts of volunteers.
The number of homeless dogs and cats in Oaxaca continues to rise at an alarming rate and organizations to assist them are virtually nonexistent. More resources and facilities are urgently needed to care for these animals and to educate the community about the importance of responsible animal ownership, including sterilization and vaccination.
The Megan House, named for the founders’ beloved German shepherd, is a reflection of the passion of Rebecca and Anthony Raab. They have dedicated their 40-acre ranch, Casa Raab, located in a small village in the hills adjoining Oaxaca, to sheltering, treating and socializing needy dogs, cats and the occasional burro. In this nurturing environment, the animals recover and await new lives with caring families.
The Megan House Animal Center objectives are:
COMPASSION:
Food, shelter, medical care for animals in need.
ANIMAL WELFARE:
Vaccinations and medical intervention to restore animals to good health.
REDUCTION OF HOMELESS ANIMAL POPULATION:
Free spay/neuter clinics, supported through donations. Responsible adoption programs.
EDUCATION:
Outreach programs through schools and the community to teach respect and responsible care for all animals.
SUPPORT FOR THE COMMUNITY:
Free vet services and animal care consultations supported by donations for those who can’t afford care. |
